How many words are there?
Lexo contains 4000 words, manually reviewed and graded into 3 difficulty levels. There are 1500 Easy words, 1500 Medium words and 1000 Hard words.
Back to topHow were the words in Lexo selected?
Lexo’s words were selected from a variety of sources, including the work of great writers in the public domain alongside more everyday sources. Each word was manually reviewed to ensure Lexo provides a varied challenge including commonplace and more unusual words.
Back to topWhat’s the difference between a hard word and an easy word?
Hard words are a lot more difficult to solve than easy words! Seriously, hard words tend to be longer (9 or 10 letters long) and / or more unusual. Easy words are usually only 5 or 6 letters long and more commonplace.
Back to topWhat can I do if I get stuck on a word?
If you get stuck, you can always press the Pass button to move on to a new word. A preference in the game options sets whether such passed words are revealed. This is a great way to learn new words and recognise them the next time they’re played.
Back to topHow many possible answers are there for each mixed-up word?
There’s only one answer for each mixed up word. When we chose the words we compared them with a list of approximately 90,000 possible anagrams. Any word whose letters could be used to make up another word exactly was automatically removed during the selection process.
Back to topWill I see the same word over and over again when I’m playing Lexo?
Only if you don’t manage to solve it. Lexo tracks the words you solve and avoids repeating a solved word. This also means you can challenge yourself to complete all the words in the game or at a particular difficulty level.
Back to topWhat happens when I solve all the words? Does this mean I can’t play any more?
No. When you complete all the words at a particular difficulty level, all the words at that level are put back into play.
